WATCH THE FULL "DELTA" MOVIE HERE

October 14th, 2020 TS DELTA hit the NH seacoast with a clean head high swell
and relatively warm water. The crew was out in full force. Still reeling from
Hurricane Teddy the boys and girls wanted more.
And DELTA provided them with another jolt of saltwater energy.
So while 2020 may have been a terrible year for some people,
the surfers of New England will tell you otherwise.
What's my old mantra? Oh yeah...SURFING HEALS ALL WOUNDS.
Music is by The AB Band. The song is called "Autumn Breeze."
I thought it was appropriate enough.

October 25th, 2020 The RUN is 12 out of 12 Weeks.
Waist high or better at least once a week.

There were chest to head high waves from October 22nd to
the 23rd, and overhead surf on the 24th, 2020.

EPSILON GALLERIES. The Power of a single Photograph
on Social Media's Facebook and Instagram.

I took a single photograph last night, (Saturday October 24th, 2020) of a single wave from Hurricane EPSILON. The view is my favorite view in all of Hampton, NH. Looking south at a breaking wave on North Beach (the Wall) with Great Boar's Head in the background. In my honest opinion, there is no better view in this seacoast town. You may not agree with me, but you have to admit, this is a pretty cool view. It may not be your best view, but it's mine.

I posted this photo (below) on Social Media and I wanted to share with you, all the GOOD aspects of why Social Media is a good and positive forum for me, and my Blog. I know that some of you refuse to use Social Media. To each his own. But for me personally, it has been a bona fide God Send.

Yes there are some ugly and nasty things out there, but that can also be said for TV and radio. The beauty of social media, like TV, is you simple turn the page. Or change the station. I like it, and will always use it. It works for me.

Anyway, below is a sample of what kind of positive response a single photograph can generate.

"SURFING AND SOCIAL MEDIA HEALS ALL WOUNDS!"

This week's Ed's corner is a series of pics taken of me and my friend Tony Berardini on October 24th, 2008. I have so many pics of Ed's in my folders, that every now and then, I figure I can get away with a little more than usual. This is one of those times.

This is me doing a bottom turn at that spot that everyone seems to like these days. Click on this pic to see a larger version.

It's hard to believe this was 12 years ago. And it's really hard to believe that there was ONLY me and Tony and out there this day.
It's true, click on this pic to see a larger version.

As usual, I'm always trying to fit inside the little tubes and barrels whenever I can. Click on this pic to see a larger version.

Try and imagine seeing waves like this with only two of us out. That's me dropping into a sweet looking peak. Click to see a larger version.

Meanwhile, here's Tony getting a sweet one while ed was on the beach snapping away and getting a kick out of the fact that his two friends of his own age was getting a fun little session while hiding in plain sight. Click on this pic to see a larger version.

OK so it wasn't overhead and barreling but who among us would pass on a fun session like this? None of us would. And having Ed on the beach snapping away was a bonus. Thanks for this magical session Ed. I know I speak for both Tony and I, when I say, we won't ever forget this day, nor will we ever forget you. Photos by Ed O'Connell

Now for Some Local and National News

There's a new BORAT movie out and Cory and I watched it the other night. It is hilarious. And like his first movie, there are some scenes that you just can't unsee. Sacha Baron Cohen is a genius with a few screws loose in his head. Some of the stuff he gets away with is truly remarkable.

I'll never understand how some people can be so gullible.
Rudy, Rudy, Rudy, you stupid son of a bitch. What the hell were you thinking? Here's a scene from the movie. What does it look like Rudy is doing here?

Watch the movie and have yourselves a good hearty laugh. Or read about poor Jeffrey Toobin's Dumb Ass Move of the month and really have a good laugh. I swear, these people have lost their minds.

Caught masturbating on a Zoom call. Say what? Yup. Mr CNN himself. Dude? Really? You stupid son of a bitch. What the hell were you thinking? I mean Jeffrey?

Oh how the mighty have fallen. You make a lucrative career by writing about others, and their nasty crimes, and then you go and do something like this? I know one of your book subject's who got a good chuckle over your misfortune.

Look who's laughing now Jeffrey. Look, I hate OJ. He got away with murder. But Toobin wrote a book about him and this has got to be some kind of sweet revenge for the Juice. SEX and MURDER always seem to go together. Ain't that right OJ?

KSM Photoshop of the Week
So we were not surprised to see Khaliddy as an extra in the New BORAT film. Surely you can spot him out back. This is an actual scene from the movie. And that's actually Sacha Baron Cohen in a rubber 45 suit. Like I said, the movie is pretty damn funny. This week's KSM might not have been that funny, but the movie is. Look, in this day of COVID CRAZY MANIA, we all need a good chuckle. So have at it. Allow yourselves to laugh at life.

And so my friends, please take advantage of this weekly photo shop of the mastermind who planned 9-11 and resulted in the deaths of 3,000 innocent civilians by KSM (Khalid Sheik Mohammed).

*Note to self -must pick up a case of BORAT HANDBOOKS FOR WOMEN at Home Depot this week.

CATCH A WAVE FOR MOLLY. (Click On the Banner below)
Started on July 26, 2010 ENDED July 26, 2011.
A Wave a day for 365 consecutive days.

Yesterday- The Summer of 1965. That's 55 Years Ago.
(Below) This is me on the North Shore of Massachusetts. I started surfing the year before, at this very same spot. The board I'm holding was my favorite board. A Red Keoki that was only 8' 3" long. I wish I still had that board. Looking at this photo I'm convinced more than ever, that we all start off as kooks, and we all end up as kooks. Trust me, it happens to all of us.

This is the trailer to TEDDY. Or rather Hurricane TEDDY. We had four days of waves with two of them being significant. September 22nd and 23rd, 2020. Teddy was one of those Hurricanes that lived cup to the hype. It got big. It got hollow. And...it got crowded. Believe it or not, some surfers flew out from California to surf TEDDY. The Full feature Premiere showing will be shown on October 1st, 2020 at 7:00 PM. I'll be showing it on the Blog, the Vimeo page, and Facebook. That's 10-1-20 at 7:00PM EST. Music will be by NERVOUS EATERS, REDDY TEDDY, and The VINNY BAND. The song in the trailer is HOT STEEL and ACID by Nervous Eaters and can be purchased at aceofheartsrecords.com

Three Tropical Storms that gave New England some fun waves. September 6th, 14th, and 15th, 2020. It never got really big, but anytime the waves are head high and the water temps are in the 60's it's worth it. My son Max was celebrating his birthday on the 14th, so it's a little Max heavy. But seeing Kainalu Nichols surf at home again is worth the price of admission alone. Wait, what am I talking about it's free. The music is by Jack Shea check him out of Instagram @iamjackshea and QWILL at qwillmusic.com

TROPICAL STORM KYLE 5 Days Of Waves from Ralph's Pic Of The Week on Vimeo.

From August 15th to August 19th, 2020 TS KYLE lit up the New Hampshire seacoast. The Boys and The Girls were there to meet Kyle every hour of every day. Suffice it to say, by Day 5 they were all gassed. But not before I shot the best of the best. It didn't really clean up until Day 4, but not having any real waves for so long, nobody was complaining. I managed to get in the water with my trusty HERO 5 GoPro and shoot for a couple of hours in just my trunks and rash guard. Yes it was that warm. I tried to shoot everyone who was out there. But try as I might, I always end up missing a few. I'm sorry if I missed you. The music is provided by my super talented nephew QWILL. You need to check his site out qwillmusic.com

Little Soft Top Or Christmas In July from Ralph's Pic Of The Week on Vimeo.

July 1st and 2nd, 2020. The 157th anniversary of the battle of Gettysburg. The actual battle lasted 3 days. July 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. But here in Hampton, NH? It was all about surfing at the Wall. Dougie "Fresh" Wright was in town and as always, he times his visits with a fun summer swell. The surfing is all by the local crew. The music is three songs from The VINNY Band LP "OLAS DE SEXO" recorded in 1983 and produced by our dear friend David Robinson. The music isn't exactly contemporary but it works well enough for Surfing. Look for the near decapitation of Cam MacLeod. Crazy. I shot this in 4K so adjust your machines accordingly. Watch at a minimum of 1080

The BOYS & GIRLS Of Summer 6-5-20
from Ralph's Pic Of The Week on Vimeo.

OK so I shot this all on June 5th, 2020. I started shooting at 8:00AM. There was only ONE person out at this secret spot called The WALL. Think about that. We all just spent two months in a Lockdown when the Governor opened the Beaches on June 1st, 2020. You would think that the first sign of a freaking ripple that people would be all over a waist to chest high glassy morning. But only a handful got it in the morning. People did finally wake up and by midday it was back to the normal crowd scene. It was just the best was from 7-9AM. Look, I'm not telling you this to make you feel bad (okay maybe a little) but you gotta wake up and check the cams people. It's summer! The flat spells are upon us. Anyway, I used The Ataris playing one of my favorite songs ever. Check it out. Live and learn. SURF FREE OR DIE!

OPENING DAY June 1st, 2020 from Ralph's Pic Of The Week on Vimeo.

Finally, the Governor of New Hampshire opened our Beaches and allowed our people the FREEDOM to Surf. Albeit, there wasn't much in the way of Surf, but that didn't stop the Boys and Girls from paddling out at the Wall on North Beach in Hampton, NH. Nobody spread the COVID-19 Virus around, that I could see. It's funny because while we (surfers) were all practicing Social Distancing the Protesters and Rioters were NOT. It's almost as if The Coronavirus disappeared overnight. My friends we are living in strange times. As in very strange times. The music by TL fits perfectly. The BOYS ARE BACK IN TOWN!

COVERT-19 TS ARTHUR from Ralph's Pic Of The Week on Vimeo. Another from the COVERT-19 series. This might end up being the last of its kind because on June 1st, 2020 the beaches of New Hampshire will finally be open. The last in the nation to open the beaches. Thank God. This edit is all from Tropical Storm Arthur. This was shot in 4 K so adjust your device accordingly. The music is by the super talented Ty Tabor. Buy his music at amazon.com

MAY DAY from Ralph's Pic Of The Week on Vimeo.

The 7th video in the COVERT-19 Series. This one's called May Day. Just three surfers Kody Grondin, Max Fatello, and Kenny Linseman all practicing "Social Distancing" while hordes of people crowd the local beach Restaurants and nobody says anything. I don't get it. That's BS in my eyes. Practice Common Sense Not Nonsense. As long as there's surf, I'm going to document it. Music is by The Jelly Jam you can buy their music at amazon.com. Watch in 4K if you have it, otherwise watch in 1080.

MR MAN from Ralph's Pic Of The Week on Vimeo.

Another from the COVERT-19 series. This one's called MR MAN. It's all from the 27th and 28th of April 2020. It's all in black and white. The featured surfers are: Jesse Gould, Kody Grondin, Max Fatello, Matt Colby, Ryan Jackson, and Brett and Kai Zola. Music is by The Jelly Jam by their music at Amazon.com

NOBODY'S BUSINESS from Ralph's Pic Of The Week on Vimeo.

From the COVERT-19 series. This one's called NOBODY'S BUSINESS. Shot in New England on Sunday April 19th, 2020. Surfers: Kody Grondin, Max Fatello, Nick "Pev" Peverada, Lars Hamilton, Brian Taber, and Nate Gillman. ralphspic.com Music by Ty Tabor

COVERT -19 Series GHOST TOWN from Ralph's Pic Of The Week on Vimeo.

With the LOCKDOWN in full affect the local surfers have to get creative to find waves. No PARKING means just that. There's NO PARKING at any of the NH beaches. So what does that mean? Well, you can walk, ride a bike, or skateboard to the ocean. The Atlantic Ocean is a big body of water. As long as you avoid the beaches and leave your vehicle at home, the will to survive and surf is strong in New England. The Surfers who appear in the video broke no laws. They just went surfing and practiced Social Distancing. The music is by Jelly Jam. Amazingly talented musicians. Praying for those who are sick, and praying for all the businesses to hang in there. Things will get better. I hope they Kill The Virus soon. Meanwhile, "Surfing Heals All Wounds."

LOCKDOWN from Ralph's Pic Of The Week on Vimeo.

Will this be the last surf Video I make in the next couple of months? March 27th, 2020. Was the Last Day before the LOCKDOWN. The COVID-19 Plague has taken the country by storm. Thank God we had this last ocean storm before the Beaches and parking lots were shut down. I should have called this edit The Day The Earth stood Still.

Couple of points of interest for you all. For starters, March 27th was my late father's birthday, as well as my late uncle's birthday, and it's also my youngest daughter's birthday. Today is April 2nd. It's also the Birthday of my two dear friends. David Robinson (The CARS) and Don Rose (Eat records). Why mention them? Well I used four songs off the LP OLAS DESEXO by the VINNY BAND. I wrote all of the songs on the LP. And David produced the record, and Don was record company president who signed our band back in 1979.

One of the songs you'll hear, "I NEVER SAW YOU" was number one on WBCN in Boston for four consecutive weeks. It featured Elliot Easton (The CARS) on lead guitar. And my good friend and fellow photographer Tony Berardini was the GM of WBCN at that time. The last song is called "HERE'S WHERE I GET OFF" and it is my personal favorite song I've ever written. And I've written hundreds of songs. Anyway, you got nothing to do these days except watch TV and fool around on Social Media. So watch and listen my friends. Watch and listen.
Happy Birthday David and Don!

I filmed this in 4K so adjust your machines accordingly.
